In its first three years, Karibuni concentrated its activity on the realization of health and education projects.
We believe that the growth of a people starts from the possibility to make school accessible to as wide a number of people as possible, with adequate facilities equipped with services, water, refectories and trained teachers, together with sanitary and healthcare services for the needs of the students and their families. Thus St. Francis, the primary school in Gede, was born (came into being) to welcome almost 400 students; with the collaboration of some Rotary Clubs, we have furnished all classrooms with desks, and endowed the school with a water system, a refectory and a kitchen. Not far from here, we built the Handicap School (School for Handicapped people) fully equipped with a physiotherapy gym. Today it hosts more than 100 disabled children who live and study there, thanks to the contribution of the Rotary Club of Appiano Gentile and the supervision of our doctors Ela and Carlo Peverelli. Our volunteer physiotherapists periodically visit the school to treat these children and to train and update local therapists with the latest therapies.
