I have been waiting for days to write this newsletter, the last of the year. I waited day by day with the hope of receiving news from Kenya about Silvia the girl kidnapped in Chakama. She was there in that isolated place, full of enthusiasm, the enthusiasm that only young people with beautiful ideals, can release. In these months, I could see several of these young people who occasionally came to Malindi to breathe a bit of city air and go back there again … Silvia should not be up there, should not be up there any of those young people! Too much superficiality has occurred in those people that were managing their time, now we also understand their lives. It is a thought that I shared several times before the kidnapping…. no need to talk about it now!
We only pray that the wicked men, hard men who live in lands where nature is never friendly, men who thought that maybe that lonely and helpless girl could be the solution to easily have a little more money, damn money …
This year Karibuni has grown a lot, from January 2019 onward more than 1000 children will enjoy a meal every day, meals prepared with the produce of our farms and the work of the people of Karibuni, and, above all, from the many donations and the help of old and new friends who share Karibuni vision that believe that the best way to help Africa is to HELP THEM TO HELP THEMSELVES. Those who came to visit us in these months in Langobaya, Meru and Shimba Hills have seen our results, our way of understanding cooperation, the belief that only through the creation of work, children will have a future.
We continue to believe in it, if you continue to believe in it together with us we will be able to do a lot more… we could provide hundreds of other children with hot meal, health and education… they can continue to believe and hope.
To all of you, our best wishes for happy holidays.
